Summary: Hollis is your average psychotic oddball with a superiority complex. All she wants is to be left alone. Of course, that’s easier said than done.

Review: There’s no denying that Hollis is extremely prickly and, in real life, probably a very unlikeable character. However, in writing, she’s a thrill to read. Perpetually bad-tempered and dismissive, Hollis snarks her way through life with relish, giving good guy Ruben a run for his money.
Summary: Lucky had resigned himself to the life of an observer. The little brother. The best friend. The sidekick. But then life decided to kick him in the balls, and dumped his twitching body into his own crappy soap opera. And a sucky one at that.

Review: Lucky probably isn’t everybody’s idea of a suitable protagonist. From the way he describes himself, the only thing exceptional about him is the fact that he’s exceptionally poor. Though the plot may not be your idea of an exciting time - the misadventures of a high school boy and the strange individuals he hangs around with - Lucky’s inner ramblings, infused with wit and plenty of humour, are enough to make it interesting.
Summary: Adam’s got the Spidey Sense but he’d rather be The Invisible Man. Your regular Marvel Action Hero minus lycra and enthusiasm for saving the world, he’d rather just ignore it and his dormant to extinct love life. Going nuts is more of a problem.

Review: One thing that struck me about this story was how believable the protagonist, Adam, is. All his faults, insecurities and idiosyncrasies come together with the first-person point of view, allowing us great insight into his character and his unusual abilities. It’s these abilities that make With Intent such a unique piece - I’m infinitely glad to find a well-written, supernatural-themed FP story that doesn’t utilise vampires, werewolves, or one of many other archetypes that have been recycled countless times. The plot is original, the writing is practically faultless, and Adam’s snarky yet intelligent inner commentary builds both suspense and believable emotion.
Thanks! There will most likely be a number of works in progress, that is if the author is still active. If it hasn’t been updated for a while, but there’s no mention of discontinuation and the story is exceptional, I’ll probably rec it as well.
Make sure to tell your FP friends about this Tumblr, so the recommended pieces get more exposure (:
Thanks! Tell any other FP users you know - I’m hoping it can gain some more recognition before I start reccing, so the stories get more attention.
I’ll try and cover a range of different genres, but since FP readers are predominantly interested in romance (and I get to most of these stories by trawling through people’s favourites), it might be a bit difficult. I’m sure there are some criminally underrated non-romance stories out there, though, and I’ll do my best to find them.
And of course, feel free to suggest (:
Summary: An angry, anthropophobic loner gets thrust into the world of typical teen socialization, aggravating freshmen and unbearable crushes when her new neighbors, a chatterbox and a bully, move in. A dark twist in the bad boy/good girl.

Review: For me, Dear Imagination is a breath of fresh air, one that I can read over and over again without tiring. The protagonists are a nice break from stereotypical, too-good-to-be-true heroes and heroines; they’re nowhere near perfect, yet still manage to be completely endearing. Though the plot meanders a bit, Lyn and Christopher remain at its heart, keeping it (and us!) firmly anchored in their story.
Hi!
My aim here is to create a site where you can browse Fictionpress stories that, in my opinion, deserve more exposure. I will be recommending stories that I’ve read and enjoyed, and believe are of high quality. If you frequent the site and, like me, constantly find yourself running out of things to read, hopefully there’s something new and refreshing here that will capture your interest.
Feel free to suggest stories, and happy reading.
